Weekly Photo Challenge: Unusual
About Coming East
I am a writer, wife, mother, and grandmother who thinks you're never too old until you're dead. My inspiration is Grandma Moses who became a successful artist in her late 70's. If I don't do something pretty soon, though, I'll have to find someone older for inspiration.

Where do you find the photo challenge prompt? I loved that closeup abstract of the barnacles, it reminds me of tufa. 🙂
What is tufa, Eye? I’ll have to Google it. Try putting “weekly photo challenge” in the search box for WordPress. I automatically get it sent to my email.
Apparently limestone formations with a sort of bubbly effect something to do with water, I knew what it looked like and knew what your photo reminded me of, the rest of it escaped me! Thank you for sharing. 🙂
And thank you for taking the time to comment, Eye.
Well done with the Unusual theme. 🙂
Thanks, Robin. I loved that giant toadstool.
Great photos for the Unsual theme! I posted a few photos of Fredericksburg. Maybe it’ll refresh your memory of Texas Hill County. Have a great week!
Thanks, Amy. I’ll go peek at your post.
Very unusual! And very cool.
Barnacles are interesting. Don’t think I’ve seen a toadstool quite like that one.
Clever girl. These are lovely shots and yes, truly unusual.
Thanks, Dor. I like to be called clever!
Beautifully unusual! Great choices for the theme! 🙂
Thanks, EC. Barnacles are not so unusual, but I think they’re cool.
Love the photos…especially the barnacles. I am captivated and fascinated by everything about the sea. The toadstool looks like the dining room pedestal table for the woodland fairies.
You are the second person to mention fairies in conjunction with that toadstool. Now that I think of it, I do remember there being fairies around it. Wonder why my camera didn’t capture them?
Great photos! I’ve always loved toadstools…it’s the whole fairy thing!
Ha! Never thought of that, LDC.
I always enjoy your photos!
Thanks, DF. They sort of give me a day off from writing.
And by abandon the roads I mean bikes, trains and light rail. I’ve become addicted to them.
I was going to say that I didn’t think you would abandon cars or you’d have to change the name of your blog, GCB.
I’m with you on finding someone older for inspiration;) I’m taking art lessons as we speak! Who knows, I may abandon the roads altogether. Great shots BTW
What kind of art lessons, GCB? My father took up watercolors when he was 81. He only lived to 83, so he didn’t get very far, but he loved it.
The City of Sydney provides all sorts of stuff for residents. I came across watercolour basic painting and thought I’d give it a go. I fancy myself in a smock in the middle of a field with a paintbrush in one hand and glass of champs in the other.
I wish I were artistic, GCB, but I can’t even draw stick figures. I don’t think lessons would help me.
