Born on the birthday of a great president and named after another one, our little great-nephew has a big name to grow into. He arrived a little after 9 P.M. last night, healthy and beautiful. We are not surprised at what a beautiful baby he is, of course, because his grandparents and his great-auntie and great-uncle are so good-looking. Oh, and his parents had a little something to do with that, too. This is one of the very first photos taken of him, but when this auntie gets to see him soon, she will take many more. My brother and sister-in-law are back at the hospital with him, their very first grandchild. They have promised to share.
Now here is the picture of the rebirth. Okay, so it’s our dining room, but it has taken us four or five weeks to finish it after stripping wallpaper, scrubbing glue off the walls, repairing the walls, sanding, and painting. I feel like it’s a rebirth.
Congratulations on both! 🙂
Thanks, Robin, though you know, of course, which one of those two things I’m most excited with. And the kid was cute, too. Hahaha…just joking.
Congratulations on all of it! (I love the hutch.)
Thanks, LD. I love that hutch, too.
Congratulations, he is way too good looking! Love you kitchen. Maybe, I’ll come to see the kitchen someday if you don’t come…
I would love that, Amy! When you get tired of the Texas heat, Virginia Beach would be a great place to come.
Can’t believe I said that… Right now is low 70s and sunny.
Love to visit ya in the near future.
Well, right now it might be 70, but I can guarantee it won’t be that cool come August!
we will be roasted…
Congratulations on another generation to share with your brother. So far among my siblings, we’re the only grandparents. I think I will be so excited when my I see my brothers or sister become grandparents.
Wonderful work on your dining room. Glad you’re surrounded by a color you love. (We have yellow in our house also.) Congratulations on that labor of love, too.
Thanks, Georgette. I had to laugh when I saw the picture I just posted of our Texas kitchen because the color isn’t much different. That was a very bright kitchen, unlike our dining room, so the gold looks brighter.
Can’t wait to see more baby pictures! Your dining room is radiant.
I want you to see it in person, Patti. Still working on the powder room, though. I’ll get tons of baby pictures this weekend.
LOVE, on all counts! 🙂
Awwww-som! (To both)
It seems so long ago that I was a young mother like that, Adela. Oh…because it was. Duh!
That is just the sweetest picture! Congrats to you (on the dining room too!)
Thanks, Darla. I’m pretty excited about both, but I have to say, I think the baby trumps the room makeover.
Congratulations are in order on both counts! The little lamb is beautiful and the dining room is stunning…LOVE the color!
Thanks, LWTTD. I Skyped with my brother and sister-in-law who were in my niece’s room at the hospital today. My brother was holding his grandson. Loved to see that!
Congrats! He’s gorgeous. And so is your renovation– well done!
We were just informed that our 4th grandchild is due end of July!
Fantastic news, Grandma! Do any of the grandchildren live close to you?
goodness!!! what a bundle of love! 🙂 🙂 🙂 Nothing compares to holding new life.
Your diningroom is a color i adore! I painted that shade in a spare room and adjoining bathroom in the first condo we bought after getting married. The condo and husband are long gone 😉 but that perfect maize yellow remains as one of my all time fave wall shades! (of course it may be my monitor showing the color as maize and your room is a different shade in person…you know how pcs can be!)
Funny comment about the condo and that husband, SHBG. I think maize is probably a fairly accurate description of the color. It’s actually called “beeswax.” As for getting to hold new life, we have to wait a few more days, but I think that little guy will still qualify as new.
The baby is adorable! And I love the color of your dining room.
Thanks, Julia. Picking out a color is so hard, isn’t it? The baby we didn’t pick out, but we like him the way he is.
What a precious little gift! Born the day after my birthday and on my son in law’s birthday. Great time of year to be born. Thank you for sharing his photo. How precious is he? I love your dining room, gorgeous! I am in the process of putting a post together about our dining room… it’s a saga! Thanks, congratulations great Auntie… this little one has a wonderful example of how to live life. DAF
What a sweet thing to say, DAF. So you have a dining room saga, too? Can’t wait to hear it.
When we woke up this morning it took a second to realize yesterday wasn’t a dream. We’re back at the hospital and yep, the little cutie is still there. Sometimes it’s hard to talk when you are that proud and happy. The new parents are just amazing. So we’ll all be over their house this weekend and you and George can hold the little guy.
Can’t wait, Grandpa! George and I are so happy for all of you. And for us, too!
He is a cutie! And the rebirth is lovely 🙂
I think the rebirth was actually easier, Stacia.
Love your dining room – lots of work there, and it paid off.
But, oh my goodness, that sweet little one just takes my breath!
Thanks, Dianna. We are so excited for my niece and nephew. They are such a sweet couple, and now they are a family!
Precious little one. Congratulations to you all. 🙂 Your dining room looks so stunning. Worth all the effort.
Thanks, Adin. I think that baby will be worth the effort, too. LOL!
🙂
Congratulations to your new little guy.
Thanks, Maire. Can’t wait to hold him this weekend—if I can get him away from my brother.
